Scared-Crow
This piece inspired by art by Jim McKenzie, it is a stylized scarecrow being frightened by a monster he encountered while defending his field. The scarecrow and spider-pumpkin are all modeling chocolate with a wafer paper covered board.

Jarid Altmark, multi-award winning cake artist from Sunny South Florida, discovered his passion for art at an early age. Initiating his culinary infatuation was popular Food Network shows such as, Ace of Cakes and Food Network Challenge. At the age of 13, Jarid had made his first cake and has not looked back ever since.  Constantly growing and expanding his repertoire, Jarid’s first competition at the age of 14 was at That Takes the Cake Sugar Art Show in Austin, Texas.  Having the opportunity to meet and learn from his cake idols, Jarid’s gravity defying creation stole the show winning 1st place and best of the teen division. His competition bug  has thrived from competing in other shows across the country, winning to his amazement.  Jarid, 16 years old, now travels the country teaching his craft on his whim, divulging on his whimsically realistic creations, with a specialty in sculpting and structured cakes.  When not caking, Jarid is preoccupied with school being vice-editor in chief of Coral Springs High School’s  yearbook  and homework, absurd amounts of homework.
