“Torments of Hell”

Gargoyles are an important feature in the medieval churches and cathedrals of Europe, functionally disguising waterspouts and artistically representing the grotesque torments and terrors of Hell. These sugar gargoyles are replicas of actual medieval sculptures, created with royal icing on chocolate sugar cookies, and hand painted with edible gel colors.
Dany Lind started Dany’s Cakes 16 years ago, and what started as a cake hobby for family and friends has evolved into a passion for cookie art. Dany is known for creating elaborate sets of cookies that tell a visual story, full of emotion and texture. “Cookies are usually my job, designed to make money and satisfy cookie eaters,” she explains. “I don’t get a chance to use my cookies as an artistic medium as often as I’d like to, which is why I love being a part of such a brilliant collaboration like SugarSpooks. The talent in this group is beyond inspiring!” When Dany is not making cookies or the occasional client cake, she can be found on football, baseball, soccer, basketball, track and Nordic-racing sidelines throughout New England with her three boys.
